Some 11,086 people are currently under institutional isolation across 609 shelter centres in the country, according to Hamoud bin Mohammed Al Mantheri, the coordinator of the Relief and Shelter Sector, which is one of the organisations overseeing quarantine procedures in the country.
To enable the government to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the country, he asked people currently under isolation to not break the quarantine rules they are expected to follow.

Oman s decision to suspend air communication with Bangladesh is likely to jeopardise the return of about 20,000 to 25,000 Bangladeshi migrant workers to the Gulf country, according to Oikya Parishad.
The migrant workers have come to Bangladesh on vacation, Oikya Parishad, a platform of recruiting agencies, said yesterday.
Besides, the decision will also delay the process of about 5,000 to 7,000 Omani employment visas obtained by different recruiting agencies at present, it said.
M Tipu Sultan, president of the platform, said many of the migrant workers have a few days of their vacations left while many others have issues related to iqama expiry.
Oman to indefinitely ban travellers from India, Pakistan & Bangladesh from Saturday
Oman will indefinitely ban the entry of travellers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh starting from 6pm on Saturday, April 24.
The ban extends to travellers who have been in or visited those countries in the 14 days preceding their arrival in the sultanate.
There will be an exception made for Omani citizens, diplomats and health workers and their families.
The decision was announced by Omanâs Covid-19 Supreme Committee on Wednesday, April 21, and reported by state-run Oman News Agency.
