Wright is among a team representing the Hill family, including nationally known civil rights attorney Ben Crump.
“The Hill family and their legal team, attorneys Ben Crump, Richard W. Schulte, and Michael Wright, want to thank the City of Columbus and its leaders for doing the right thing, the attorneys said in a joint statement. By agreeing to a financial resolution with the family and renaming the Brentnell Community Center Gymnasium after Andre Hill, now all those involved can begin to heal.”
The Hill family and attorneys have rescheduled a press conference for 3 p.m. Downtown. The Dispatch will be present and will update this story.

Andre Hill, fatally shot by Columbus police on Dec. 22, is memorialized on a shirt worn by his daughter, Karissa Hill, on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, in Columbus, Ohio.
The City of Columbus has agreed to pay $10 million to the family of Andre Hill, who was shot and killed by a Columbus Police officer in December. The payout is the largest in the city s history.
Hill was fatally shot in the early morning hours on December 22 by then-Columbus Police office Adam Coy, who was responding to a non-emergency call on Oberlin Drive in Northwest Columbus. Hill was inside a garage, delivering Christmas money according to the homeowners when Coy and another officer approached him.
The investigation into the shooting was handled by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Ohio Attorney General s office.
According to court records, Coy will appear on May 7 for an initial appearance on the reckless homicide charge, which carries a five-year maximum prison sentence if convicted.
Mark Collins, Coy s attorney, said the new charge shows prosecutors have doubts about whether they could convict Coy of murder. Reckless homicide is not a lesser included offense of felony murder, Collins said. This shows us that they little faith in the felony murder charge.
Anthony Pierson, Senior Assistant Attorney General, said Friday that the new charge is based on the ongoing investigation and the reckless homicide count will be combined into a single case with the already existing one.
