Don Pasquale, the season opener for the Concerts in Your Car series at California s Ventura County Fairgrounds. Following the State s guidelines, attendees were able to enjoy a live stage performance from the safety and comfort of their vehicles or from their own chairs next to their vehicles, while wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing. The presentation included a light show and multimedia entertainment across video jumbo screens. Sound came through the car FM radio. The opera was sung in Italian with English translations projected on screen.
The opera was staged at the fairgrounds since in-theater performances were not allowed due to COVID-19 danger. The Ventura property is a gorgeous piece of land bordering the Pacific Ocean. If you re in that category, you ll want to tune in at 5 p.m. Sunday to Opera San Jose s event, livestreamed from Italy, where a theatrical impresario known for his nonstop channeling of multiple musical personas takes on the composer as his newest alter ego and presents four renowned opera stars singing his music.

Mar. 10 Opera Modesto brings home a Hughson native as part of its online March concert, High, Low & Hip Hopera!
The third offering of the Modesto company s Festival @ Home virtual series will be available March 12-31. High, Low & Hip Hopera! features three artists, including bass Nathan Stark, a 1996 Hughson High graduate. He ll be joined in the concert taped live at the Gallo Center for the Arts by baritone Babatunde Akinboboye and countertenor Logan Tanner, according to a press release.
The concert was recorded without an audience, with pandemic safety protocols in place, according to the release, and includes complex lighting, multiple camera angles and quality sound.
Any 501(c)(3) non-profit agency serving Santa Clara County may apply for a grant. All grant requests will be considered, but emphasis will be given to projects involving historical preservation, environmental protection, arts and culture, and animal welfare. Grant funds must be used exclusively in Santa Clara County.
