Online dating can be a minefield. After testing the waters in a carefully choreographed mating ballet, the whole process can ultimately feel performative and rote.
“As much as apps can help extend personal networks, it’s kind of dehumanizing,” said Becky Daniels, 35, who recently reached the end of her Bumble matches. “People aren’t people they’re just a picture.”
And for all the positive elements that the platforms offer, Daniels said, “they take some humanity away from dating.”
Paired with pandemic-induced lockdowns, perhaps more organic conversation wouldn t be such a bad thing, she said.
Enter Capital Heart Connection, a new event series started by two pals who aim to steer their peers away from apps like Bumble and Tinder and facilitate real-life interactions by getting them out of the house and into each others’, well,
