SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A new, 3D holographic exhibit has opened on the second floor of MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, in Santa Barbara.
The exhibit is called The History of the Internet and takes place in a room that powers all museum operations, visitor services and interactive exhibits.
The space was reimagined in collaboration with internet provider Cox Communications. Now, when guests enter the room, they will be greeted by a friendly holographic robot named Photon.
Cox explained Photon s job is to ensure everything in the server room runs as fast and smoothly as possible.

After nearly six months of closure, a sense of normalcy flooded MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation as little kids zoomed around from exhibit to exhibit, eager to get their hands on one of the many interactive displays the Santa Barbara museum offers.

A unique hands-on South Coast museum has reopened after being closed for more than a year by the pandemic.
MOXI – the Wolf Museum of Exploration and Innovation in Santa Barbara – is not your traditional museum.
It is full of hands-on experiments designed to engage youngsters – and playful adults. I d say MOXI is the farthest thing from boring, says Robin Gose, the CEO and President. We have all these different interactive exhibits that focus on science, technology, engineering and math. Or the combination of all of these things.
Gose says she’s relieved and delighted MOXI is finally back open to the public after a 14 month long closure, due to the pandemic.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif COVID-19 cases in California and Santa Barbara County are dropping. The California Department of Public Health reports a positivity rate of 1.3%. Santa Barbara County’s low new cases and case rate allowed the county to reopen in the ‘Orange Tier’ of reopening.
Under the ‘Orange Tier’ of California’s COVID-19 guidelines museums can reopen at 50% capacity inside.
Kids and their parents are getting their first chances to experiment with MOXI the Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation in Santa Barbara. On Thursday The MOXI reopened.
Matt Kruse and his family walked past The MOXI during their trip from Colorado. He said, We were just cruising by and saw this place was open and has… our daughter is four and she want to check it out. So we popped in.
