In the latest news, the singer is bagging another award, and that’s Israel’ Wolf Prize, which has been awarded to exemplary artists and scientists from across the globe “for achievements in the interest of mankind and friendly relations among peoples.” Some of the notable musicians who’ve won the prize are Paul McCartney, who partnered with Wonder in “Ebony and Ivory,” a 1982 brotherhood anthem that exemplifies Wolf Prize’s values. A majority of the 21 winners of the award from the music industry are mainly from the classical world, including Isaac Stern, Plácido Domingo, Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Horowitz, and Pierre Boulez. Wonder will go down the books as the second Black winner of the prize, coming after opera singer Jessye Norman, who won the award back in 2015.

Jewish Ledger Stevie Wonder earns Israel’s prestigious Wolf Prize (JNS) Legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder was awarded Israel’s prestigious Wolf Prize on Tuesday, Feb. 6, along with a group of laureates in the arts and sciences. The “Superstition” singer received the award for “his tremendous contribution to music and society enriching the lives of entire generations of music lovers,” according to a statement from Israeli President Reuven Rivlin’s office. Wonder, 70, is only the second black recipient to receive the Wolf Prize in the music field, following opera singer Jessye Norman.
