Stevie Wonder is a renowned singer who’s won many prestigious awards. In the latest news, the singer is bagging another award, and that’s Israel’ Wolf Prize, which has been awarded to exemplary artists and scientists from across the globe “for achievements in the interest of mankind and friendly relations among peoples.”
Some of the notable musicians who’ve won the prize are Paul McCartney, who partnered with Wonder in “Ebony and Ivory,” a 1982 brotherhood anthem that exemplifies Wolf Prize’s values. A majority of the 21 winners of the award from the music industry are mainly from the classical world, including Isaac Stern, Plácido Domingo, Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Horowitz, and Pierre Boulez. Wonder will go down the books as the second Black winner of the prize, coming after opera singer Jessye Norman, who won the award back in 2015.
