Lima Memorial scholarships fund medical studies for three grads
LIMA Lima Memorial Health System has awarded scholarships to three local graduates who intend to pursue medical careers after high school.
Allie Honigford and Ryan Utendorf each received $1,500 through the Lima Memorial Auxiliary Scholarship, while Kylie Shafer was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for her volunteer work at the hospital.
Honigford, who graduated from Ottoville High School this spring, plans to study pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. Utendorf recently graduated from Lima Senior and will study biomedical science at Xavier University, with plans to become a physician. And Shafer, who volunteered as a phlebotomy and radiology receptionist as a student at Columbus Grove, will attend Rhodes State College in the fall to study occupational therapy.

Van Wert Health announced winners of the 2021 Medical and Health Care Scholarship, an award for high school seniors pursuing continuing education within health care professions. The field was extremely competitive this year with applications from 110 high-achieving students. The selected candidates are a group of ambitious and talented students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, academic excellence, and a commitment to helping shape the future of health care.

The 2021 recipients, who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, which may be renewed for a total of four years, are:

with the exception of the September meeting, which is held in
Cloverdale at St. Barbara’s Parish hall.
