HARWICH Wondering what the backup on Route 6 looks like on a summer day?
Traffic cameras being installed across the Cape will provide that answer, giving people a live look at what’s happening on Route 6 and other roads along the peninsula.
The work first became evident this winter when poles started to pop up along Route 6 on state land near Exit 82 (formerly Exit 10).
“The pole installed in Harwich on state property along Route 6 is one of about two dozen installations of poles for traffic management cameras being installed as part of a district-wide contract,” MassDOT spokeswoman Judith Riley wrote in an email. “Cameras along state roads for traffic management purposes already exist off-Cape, and the images feed into the public-facing mass511 website and into the Highway Operations Center.”
