An undercover TV researcher for Channel 4 and the BBC will face a retrial after a jury today was unable to reach a verdict into whether he murdered a cannabis dealer in a gruesome cow shed torture killing.

Christopher Guest More Jr, 43 and from Lymm, is accused of the murder of cannabis dealer Brian Waters. He also faces charges of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm to Mr Waters and a second man, Suleman Razak. Jurors were sent to begin deliberations on Tuesday afternoon with a view of reaching a verdict. A direction was given yesterday afternoon, Thursday, by justice Sir Peter Openshaw, who presides over the trial, that a majority verdict of 10 or more jurors would be accepted.

Christopher Guest More Jr, 43, is charged with the murder of cannabis dealer Brian Waters, 44, who was tortured and killed at a Knutsford farmhouse over a drugs debt, the trial heard. He is alleged to have been one of at least six men involved in carrying out the violence, later fleeing the country before being arrested in and extradited from Malta 16 years on, the court heard.

Christopher Guest More Jr, from Lymm, fled the country following the torture and murder of cannabis dealer Brian Waters, 44, at a Tabley farmhouse in June 2003, a trial at Chester Crown Court heard today, Thursday. He was wanted for more than 15 years before being detained on a European arrest warrant in Malta in June 2019, having been living under the false identity Andrew Lamb, and was extradited back to the UK in March last year.
