Steven Kent Schneider, 1950 - 2021 Steven Kent Schneider Steven Kent Schneider passed away on February 25, 2021, at age 70 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a follower of Christ, dedicated husband, loving father, caring grandfather, uncle and brother, fun-loving friend and avid sports fan, especially of the Kansas Jayhawks. He was born to Verna and Alex Schneider on September 29, 1950, in Great Bend, Kansas. In his hometown of Otis, Kansas, he was well known for stirring up (mostly) harmless shenanigans with his closest pals throughout his adolescence. In high school, he displayed athletic talent on every kind of ball field and court, was voted Homecoming King by his peers and graduated as the 1968 Otis High School salutatorian.

for The Fence Post Steve Poet is an agricultural education teacher at the High Plains High School in Seibert, Colo. Although he has been working with kids for 20 years, this will be his fifth year at High Plains High School. Poet grew up in a rural setting himself, and with years of experience he has developed quite the green thumb. With that being said, in just five short years, Poet has helped his students to build an impressive garden and greenhouse that has become an admired and valued piece to their small community. The High Plains High School was recently built on a 10-acre plot of retired Conservation Reserve Program ground. Because the school had plenty of extra land, Poet was able to utilize this ground to build a garden and greenhouse for his students. The greenhouse itself is 60 by 72 feet and their sizable garden lays right next to the greenhouse at 100 by 72 feet. Connie Rae (Bauman) Korf 1937-2020 – Yuma Pioneer

Connie Rae (Bauman) Korf was born November 15, 1937 to Lloyd and Ann (Groehnoff) Bauman in Huron, South Dakota. She passed away on December 29th, 2020 at her home in Yuma, Colorado with her children at her side. Connie was a glorious 83 years old. She graduated from Huron High School in 1955. Then she attended Huron College for two years. The family moved to Colorado in 1956. She earned her degree in education from Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado. In December of 1959, after an interview with K.P. Morris, Superintendent of Yuma Schools, Connie was hired to fill a position within the Business Education Department at Yuma Union High School. She often said, “When Shop-All has a birthday, I’m reminded of how long I have lived in Yuma.” Although she began teaching in Yuma, the bulk of her career was spent teaching business courses at Otis High School. She was proud to be an Otis Bulldog!
