No fewer than eight passengers, yesterday, were feared dead, while scores sustained varying degrees of injuries in a truck accident that occurred in Osogbo, Osun State.
The Volvo FL7 truck with registration number KMC 35 ZJ, was said to have lost control while plying the November 27 Crossover Bridge, Osogbo, around 1.20 a.m.
The Guardian learnt the driver lost control, probably due to overloading, as the truck carried palm oil and kola nuts. x
The vehicle was transporting the goods to the North with 61 passengers, including the driver.
When The Guardian visited the scene at 10.30a.m., palm oil had spilled on the ground, while gallons littered the busy road.

An accident which saw a truck plunge into a ditch in Osogbo, Osun State in the early hours of Saturday has left 10 female palm oil traders dead, and 36 others injured.
Straight News reports that the occupants who were mostly traders were sleeping on the truck, a Volvo FL7, with registration number KMC 35 ZJ, when the accident happened.
One of the survivors who spoke to the publication said:
”The truck was ascending the November 27 overhead bridge opposite the NECO office when the driver lost control as the truck could not ascend the bridge. The truck then went on a reverse and fell into the ditch.

Eight persons were reported dead in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Saturday as a truck loaded with traders and palm oil somersaulted while ascending a bridge.
It was gathered that the truck, which was coming from Gbongan towards Osogbo around 1:30 am, attempted to join the Oba Adesoji Aderemi intersection at November 27 interchange, the truck while accelerating onto the bridge slid backward.
The driver, according to eye witness Babawale Adigun, eventually lost control of the truck and it somersaulted into the side drainage.
“The people in the truck were sleeping when it fell off the road and the palm oil gallon fell on them after they had fallen into the drainage.
