How it Happened
Notre Dame (13-3, 12-3 ACC) got off to a strong start in the first set jumping on top 14-7, but a subsequent four-point run capped with a kill by junior outside hitter
Mikaila Dowd brought Georgia Tech (12-4, 12-4 ACC) within three. The two sides battled back and forth before the Jackets took three straight points to trail by just one, 19-18. The Fighting Irish gained momentum beyond that, finishing out the set for the 25-21 win.
ATLANTA #22 Notre Dame dominated from start-to-finish in a road sweep (25-21, 25-18, 25-20) of #23 Georgia Tech on Thursday night inside O’Keefe Gymnasium.
With the win, the Irish improve to 13-3 overall and 13-3 in ACC play heading into the final day of the ACC regular season. Notre Dame can earn its first ACC Championship, and 18th regular season conference title in program history, with a win over Duke on Friday and a Louisville loss to North Carolina.
Charley Niego led all players with 17 goals and three service aces while adding five digs and three blocks. Caroline Meuth notched eight kills and hit .500 while Aubrey Hamilton also added eight kills. Zoe Nunez collected 38 assists in the three sets.
No. 23 Georgia Tech Culminates Regular Season Hosting No. 22 Notre Dame, Duke
THE FLATS –No. 23 Georgia Tech volleyball (12-3, 12-3 ACC) will conclude its regular season by hosting No. 22 Notre Dame and Duke for its final ACC pod on Thursday and Saturday in O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets and Fighting Irish (12-3, 11-3 ACC) will square off in a pivotal clash between two of the top three teams in the ACC on Thursday at 6 p.m. before Tech closes out the weekend by taking on Duke (9-11, 7-8 ACC) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
