Eastleigh Railworks Depot off Dutton Lane AN ASSESSMENT of railways across the country has found that action is needed on safety after the death of a worker at a depot in Eastleigh. The Office of Rail and Road’s annual assessment of Network Rail’s performance has shown that further improvements are needed to worker safety in Network Rail s Southern region. This comes after two workers died in the area with one of the incidents occurring at the Eastleigh depot. The regulator has now highlighted the need for Network Rail to catch-up on assessing the condition of bridges and other structures in the region and as a result of the death in Eastleigh, the rail company is now reviewing machinery guarding across its network.
