OLEAN, N.Y. The Olean Police Department is asking for the public s help to locate a missing 14-year-old.
Police say Jacob Carney ran away from his house on Indiana Avenue in the middle of the night Friday. Jacob was possibly seen Saturday in Olean around 11:30 a.m. According to police, he may have been heading west near McDonald s on West State Street.
Jacob is said to be 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. It s unknown what he was wearing when he left his house.
Police say Jacob does not have a cell phone.
People In WNY Already Have Complaints of Fireworks
Every summer we see a steady stream of complaints about fireworks being used in residential neighborhoods. Usually, these complaints hold off until closer to the Fourth of July, but there are already complaints about fireworks this spring and two police departments are taking notice.
WKBW is reporting that the Olean Police Department and Jamestown Police Department have issued warnings on social media about the use of illegal fireworks.
The Olean Police Department said they will increase enforcement of illegal fireworks after getting complaints this past week with the Memorial Day Weekend holiday.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) â Two police departments have issued fireworks advisories on social media following complaints by neighbors.
On Tuesday, the Olean Police Department reported it would step up enforcement of local and state fireworks laws after receiving complaints. The increased enforcement will happen over the next several weeks.
On Tuesday morning, the Jamestown Police Department issued a similar alert on its Facebook page, indicating it would have a zero-tolerance enforcement of fireworks complaints. Jamestown police reminded residents that combat veterans suffering from PTSD can experience symptoms as a result of fireworks.
