The Bombay High Court recently confirmed the anticipatory bail application of an advocate who was accused of being part of a conspiracy, in which a father and son were duped of Rs 7.5 crore for purchasing a plot of land at Lonavala.
The court directed that Rs 1 lakh submitted by petitioner with its registry as security as per PIL rules stand forfeited and asked the registry to give the amount to the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority.

It noted that many exploited and distressed farmers across the state have been driven to suicide.

The Bombay High Court recently held that the weight of paper used to carry LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) drops cannot be counted while ascertaining the quantity of the contraband material if it is small, intermediate or commercial as prescribed in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The court held that the process of drying LSD solution on a piece of paper merely facilitates consumption of drug and doesn’t change the substance of drug or its chemical composition.
