Tender awarded to deliver Miles CBD Streetscape revitalisation

7 July 2021 A project to completely revitalise the Miles CBD is a step closer to fruition, with Western Downs Regional Council endorsing the successful contractor to deliver the upgrade. Council has approved Bellwether Contractors Pty Ltd to construct the new-look Miles CBD which will reinvigorate the town and encourage more people to meet, dine, shop and stay longer. Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said the appointment of the construction contractor signalled the green light for works to get underway. “This is a really exciting project which delivers on our vision to aggressively attract business and investment opportunities, right across the Western Downs,” Cr McVeigh said.

The recent Supreme Court decision in  Karam Group Pty Ltd v Earthmoving Contractors Pty Ltd deals with the common circumstance where an interim injunction is sought while an alleged jurisdictional error of an adjudicator is determined by the Court. The case deals with whether or not recent views of the High Court preclude an injunction so that money would flow regardless, leaving a respondent to bear the risk of non-repayment should it ultimately be successful in its challenge of the decision.
