G7 London meeting in jeopardy as 2 members of Indian delegation contract COVID-19 World Flags of G7 countries.  LONDON: Two members of the Indian delegation who were invited to the G7 meeting tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, stoking fears other delegates part of the summit may be infected with the virus as well.  The UK government confirmed the Indians had tested positive for coronavirus after rapid tests. It’s understood that the delegation members arrived from India less than 72 hours ago for the important meeting. India is not a G7 member but the UK government invited India to attend the first in-person meeting of the group s foreign ministers in two years, which is scheduled to be held in London this week.

May 4, 2021 FAISALABAD: Some 138 more people contracted COVID-19 on Monday.According to a spokesperson for the health department, the COVID-19 death toll rose to 871 in the district and 981 people had tested for coronavirus in public and private hospitals during the last 24 hours. He said so far 15,897 patients had recovered from the disease while total active cases in Faisalabad reached 2,207. At present, 265 patients are getting COVID-19 treatment at the Allied Hospital, while 115 at DHQ hospital and 81 at General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad and 1,310 people have quarantined themselves at homes. 36 more shopping malls sealed over COVID-19 SOPs violation: Some 36 more shopping malls and three restaurants were sealed due to violation of coronavirus SOPs on Monday.

Miftah s bail in LNG contract case: IHC rules NAB allegations based on conjectures

National May 3, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has held that the allegations levelled by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former finance minister Miftah Ismail and the alleged loss to the public exchequer because of his actions in the LNG matter calculated by the Bureau is based on conjectures and presumptions. “The crucial elements i.e. mens rea, gaining illegal and undue gain and criminal intent do not appear to be in existence at this stage,” a two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb stated in its reasons for accepting Miftah Ismail’s bail through a short order on Dec 23, 2019.
