Fratello Adding Fuoco Vitola to Core Lines at PCA 2021
The Fratello Fuoco, a vitola that had previously been a European exclusive, will make its U.S. debut later this week at the 2021 PCA Convention & Trade Show ahead of its domestic release next month.
“We released the Fratello Fuoco in Europe in 2019 as it is a very popular size in the European market,” said Omar de Frias, owner of Fratello Cigars, via a press release. “Following its success, we are now bringing this special size to the consumer in the U.S.”
The Fuoco a 3 1/2 x 50 short robusto, with a name that means fire in Italian. It will be added to the three Fratello core lines, the Classico, the Bianco and the Oro, and regardless of the blend, the Fuoco will have an MSRP of $7.50 per cigar and be offered in 30-count boxes. In January of 2020, The Cigar Authority podcast send out a sample of a cigar to their care package members that was in consideration to become the new Abuelo cigar in the United Cigar Group portfolio. The Cigar is billed as rich, full of character, and exactly what would expect from your Abuelo.
United Cigars has updated the look of its regular production Firecracker and begun shipping it to retailers.
The regular production Firecracker is a 3 1/2 x 50 short robusto that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Dominican piloto mejorado binder, and a mix of Dominican seco and ligero along with Nicaraguan ligero in the filler. It has an MSRP of $5.99 per cigar and is offered in 25-count boxes, with production handled by the Magia Cubana factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
The concept debuted in 2006 as a Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label shop exclusive for Two Guys Smoke Shop in New Hampshire. It became known for its strength and small format, as well as a long, wick-style cap that is designed to evoke the image of a firecracker. United Cigars Announces Irish Car Bomb Firecrackers
There will soon be a new Firecracker on its way to store shelves, as United Cigars has announced the upcoming release of the Irish Car Bomb Firecracker, which will have it on store shelves ahead of St. Patrick’s Day.
The cigar is a 3 x 50 petit robusto that uses a barber pole wrapper design made from Dominican candela and Mexican San Andrés leaves, with the candela providing the tobacco used for the line’s signature wick. Underneath that is a Nicaraguan criollo binder, while the filler uses Dominican ligero along with Nicaragua and Pennsylvania broadleaf tobaccos. The cigars are produced at the Magia Cubana factory in Gurabo, Dominican Republic, with production limited to under 15,000 cigars, according to a press release.
