Mysterious road signs spark fears for new Eastleigh housing scheme

Eastleigh MP, Paul Holmes, stood in front of a road sign on Allington Lane referring to an area called “Allington”. RESIDENTS have raised concerns that a new development could be planned after new road signs referred to a place that doesn’t exist. MP for Eastleigh, Paul Holmes, wrote to Eastleigh Borough Council last week after road signs for a place called “Allington” were installed along Allington Lane in Eastleigh. Residents are said to have contacted the MP concerned since the signs went up about the possibility of a new development in the area. Although Allington doesn’t currently exist, Paul Holmes has claimed that development plans were previously considered by the council on this site as part of “Option D” of the Local Plan for the borough.

Eastleigh MP objects to One Horton Heath development

AN MP has said he is “concerned” by a planned 2,500 home development in a Hampshire village. Over the past year, Eastleigh Borough Council has been carrying out a consultation in relation to plans to build 2,500 new homes as part of its One Horton Heath development. Last month, a planning application for the first 393 new homes was submitted, but now an MP has said he is concerned, raising issues relating to “excessive” housebuilding, the “overdevelopment” of the area and the risk of flooding. Paul Holmes, Eastleigh MP, met with the chief executive of the council in November 2020 to discuss the plans and has now written a formal letter of objection.
