Commercial Radio Australia reveals 2021 Brian White Scholarship finalists
Commercial Radio Australia (CRA) has named the 10 finalists for this year’s Brian White Scholarship.
Now in its fifth year, the scholarship is awarded to one university student, providing them with the opportunity to gain experience in Australia’s biggest radio newsrooms.
Students are selected from a range of universities and educational institutions Australia-wide, with each finalist proceeding to a workshop with leading commercial radio news directors to develop their broadcasting and news presenting skills.
The lucky recipient of the scholarship will then go on to undertake an eight-week paid placement working for two weeks at Nine Radio, Southern Cross Austereo, Australian Radio Network and NOVA Entertainment.

Leading Australian Conservative Radio Station Loses Lead a Year After Top Host Retires
Leading conservative Sydney radio station 2GB has lost its number one position for the first time in nearly two decades.
KIIS 1065, which targets younger listeners, claimed top spot with a market share of 15.5 percent in the competitive Sydney breakfast time slot.
It beat out 2GB’s Ben Fordham, who came in at 13.3 percent, dropping 0.2 percent in the latest GFK survey.
The result comes a year after former high-profile host Alan Jones announced his retirement in May 2020. When Fordham took over, the show held a market-leading rating of 17.9 percent.

Ben Fordham is no longer the #1 breakfast show in Sydney. That was the headline splashed across the media when this week’s radio ratings dropped, and for good reason, with KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O ending a 17-year streak for 2GB.
