Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has warned that the anthem currently being used by Oduduwa Republic agitators was approved for the state, not for any secession agenda.
DAILY POST reports that the Ondo State Executive Council (SEC), which was dissolved on February 18, 2021, earlier approved the indigenous anthem for the state.
However, some secessionists have adopted the anthem for their Oduduwa Republic agenda, especially those led by the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.
But in a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Olabode Richard Olatunde, the governor clarified that the anthem is aimed at promoting the Yoruba culture and not secession ideals.
