Police ID remains found in woods Ocala Police Department officials identified the deceased as 51-year-old Norberto Munoz.   Officers said that Munoz is considered homeless and that they were unable to contact any of his family members. Law enforcement officials are waiting on tests and findings from the Medical Examiner s Office that they hope will pinpoint a cause or manner of Munoz s death. In the meantime, detectives have interviewed several people who knew Munoz. Detectives were told that Munoz was homeless and had health problems. One person interviewed told detectives the last time she saw Munoz was in October 2020.  Detectives said they were unable to find anyone who knew Munoz when they visited various homeless camps close to where Munoz s remains were found.

Now, after more than a half a century of doing different jobs, Scott, a circuit and administrative judge, believes it s time to take off the black robe. Scott plans to retire in July.

2 Florida Deputies Pause Their Wedding Photoshoot to Help Save a Man Hit by a Car Two Florida police officers have been commended by their department for halting their wedding photo shoot to render aid to a victim of a road traffic accident. Detention Deputy Taylor Rafferty and her now-husband, Deputy Chris Rafferty, were taking group photos with their wedding party on Dec. 12, 2020, when a man was hit by a car on the square in Downtown Ocala, Florida. The Raffertys, both law enforcement officers with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), didn’t hesitate to halt proceedings and step in, even though they were off the clock.

During a news conference Wednesday, the county s Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST) announced that during the first quarter of 2021 it has arrested 83 men and women on drug charges and confiscated hundreds of pounds of drugs. Several of those arrested could face manslaughter-related offenses if their drug activity led to deaths. Some of the confiscated drugs were displayed in a glass case. The display included more than 300 marijuana plants and an additional 300 pounds packaged for distribution, 2 kilograms of cocaine, more than 30 pounds of crystal meth, or ice,  and 3 kilograms of fentanyl.
