Could pausing of Johnson & Johnson vaccine create more hesitancy? By Paige Pauroso | April 13, 2021 at 6:10 PM EDT - Updated April 13 at 6:58 PM
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - North and South Carolina will stop administering the single-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine during a pause recommended by the U.S.
The Federal Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday they were investigating clots that occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. The clots occurred in veins that drain blood from the brain and occurred together with low platelets. All six cases were in women between the ages of 18 and 48; there was one death and all remained under investigation.

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - Smaller, locally-owned pharmacies and drug stores are waiting on their chance to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
Many have applied with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and are in the process of completing the required trainings to offer the vaccine at their respective locations.
“Our staff has been training we have ten staff members ready to go the moment that we get the vaccine and start immunizing people,” said Phil Icard, the owner of Peoples Drug Store in Taylorsville.
