The draw for hurling s third tier championship was made on Wednesday afternoon and Offaly have been drawn in the two team group B with Sligo. The winners of the Offaly v Sligo game will go straight into the semi-final while the loser will have a second chance, playing a group A team in a quarter-final. Group A consists of three counties, Wicklow, Roscommon and Derry and they will play each other. The top two teams will go into the semi-finals with the third playing the losers of Offaly and Sligo in the quarter-final.

The venture has brought in a whopping €208,119 so far and its success has surpassed the wildest expectations of the organisers. It was a shared fundraiser between the County Board and clubs, though the County Board will have cleared that bit more out of it as chairman Michael Duignan gathered funds solely for them and a couple of other clubs also agreed to give their full proceeds to the county.

Last year s competitions a priority as Offaly GAA plans new activity Reporter: );   ); THE Offaly GAA County Board will not be finalising their plans for the 2021 club programme until definite inter-county fixtures and there is more news on the relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions. With senior inter-county teams allowed back training on April 19 and the National Football and Hurling Leagues set to start in May, the first months of the season will be devoted to county activity. The inter-county championship season will be played on a knockout basis with the provincial championships starting at the end of June. Club championships will be played from September to December, though counties may be allowed to start earlier as their teams are knocked out of the inter-county championships.
