Boxing and shooting have been announced as the latest sports to join the programme of the 2023 European Games in Kraków-Małopolska.
Both sports featured at the previous two European Games, held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015 and Minsk, Belarus in 2019 and have been confirmed as the seventh and eighth sports to join the programme for Kraków-Małopolska.
European Shooting Confederation (ESC) President Vladimir Lisin said he was pleased about the sport’s continued involvement in the multi-sport event. The ESC was one of the first to support the idea of the European Games and gave them a special importance from the very beginning, said Lisin.

The sports programme for the 3rd European Games in Kraków-MaÅ‚opolska is taking shape rapidly, with boxing and shooting becoming the latest Olympic sports to sign on for Europe’s leading multi-sports event for elite athletes in 2023.
The European Olympic Committees (EOC) reached agreements with the European Shooting Confederation (ESC) and European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) this week, making boxing and shooting the seventh and eighth sports included on the programme since December 2020.

Croatia to stage combined European Shooting Championships ahead of Tokyo 2020 Saturday, 16 January 2021
Shooters aiming to compete in the 10-metre air rifle and 10m air pistol disciplines at Tokyo 2020 have been handed a lifeline after Croatia agreed to merge two events into one European Shooting Championships.
Lohja in Finland was originally scheduled to host the European 10-metre Championships in rifle, pistol and running target from February 26 to March 6 only for the coronavirus pandemic to force those plans to be altered.
But the Croatian Shooting Federation has stepped into the breach, offering to stage the competition in Osikej alongside the European Championships in shotgun, 25m pistol and 50m rifle.

The European Shooting Confederation (ESC) has confirmed the postponement of an event offering qualification places for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The European 10-Metre Championships in rifle, pistol and running target were due to be staged from February 26 to March 6 in the Finnish city of Lohja, but organisers have decided to call it off over concerns related to the global health crisis.
The ESC is now set to consider the possibility of staging the event at a later date in the hope of providing qualification opportunities for Tokyo 2020 hopefuls.
