The 2021 European Eventing Championships will run in Avenches, Switzerland, the FEI has revealed.
The FEI announced the decision today (17 March) along with the allocation of the 2023 championships to Haras du Pin, France. The host venues, along with those for a number of other events, were confirmed at the FEI board’s online meeting yesterday, with the “full support of the FEI eventing committee and the European Equestrian Federation”.
FEI secretary general Sabrina Ibáñez said: “We are pleased to have the Swiss venue of Avenches hosting the 2021 championships.
“Following last year’s postponement of the Tokyo Games, the FEI had originally cancelled European Championships in all three Olympic and Paralympic disciplines so that the focus could remain on the Games in 2021, but our community encouraged us to review that decision and we listened to those voices.
Fuste named International Equestrian Federation jumping director Thursday, 31 December 2020
Spain’s Marco Fuste believes he has reached the pinnacle of his career after being named jumping director of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and now plans to use his position to expand the sport.
Fuste has been director of jumping at the Spanish Equestrian Federation and
Chef d’Equipe of the country’s jumping team since 2006.
He is now set to join FEI on February 1, when he will replace interim jumping director Deborah Riplinger and be tasked with revising the organisation’s jumping rules. To be appointed as FEI director jumping is absolutely my dream job, said Fuste.
FEI appoints new Jumping Director 12/22/20
Marco Fuste (ESP), one of the best known figures on the international Jumping circuit, has been appointed as Jumping Director for the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), the global governing body for equestrian sports.
Mr Fuste has been Director of Jumping at the Spanish Equestrian Federation and chef d’equipe of the Spanish Jumping team since 2006. He will take up the new role at the FEI on 1 February 2021 and his first task will be a full revision of the FEI Jumping Rules. He replaces interim Jumping Director Deborah Riplinger, who will remain at FEI Headquarters until the end of June next year to ensure an optimal handover.

The bidding process for the cancelled 2021 European Dressage Championships for under-25s, which were due to take place in Donaueschingen in Germany next summer, has also been reopened. The deadline is also 15 January, with a decision expected in February.
The World Breeding dressage championships for young horses has also had a switch around. Verden, in Germany, which was set to host the 2020 event will now host next year’s championships that had originally been allocated to Ermelo in the Netherlands. The Dutch venue now adds the 2024 fixture to its 2022 and 2023 hosting duties instead.
