MADISON, Wis. The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County and a handful of other community organizations have been working for 16 days to completely remodel Irene Alexander’s east side home. Alexander is the great grandmother of 11-year old Anisa Scott who was shot and killed this August in an act of gun violence.
It’s why so many people stepped up to volunteer their services and donations to give Alexander a home she couldn’t believe was real.
“This is far more than I could have ever expected,” Alexander said. “I can’t believe this is the same home.”

MADISON, Wis. Leave it to the community to raise one Dane County senior up this holiday season after a series of tragedies nearly broke her spirit.
To bring Irene Alexander a bit of comfort and joy, a team of a hundred plus laborers are working around the clock to complete renovations on the senior s east side bungalow. I try to keep from crying, but the tears may flow, Alexander said sitting in the Concourse Hotel where she is staying complimentary until the home remodel is finished this Friday.
The great-grandmother s 2020 was beyond difficult. I was so saddened, so down-hearted, she said. The senior lost her brother-in-law, nephew, her husband and her great-granddaughter Anisa Scott to gun violence.
