An independent scrutineer has been appointed by Macra na Feirme for the organisation’s 38th presidential election count, which is set to take place later this week.
Ifac CEO John Donoghue will serve as independent election scrutineer, the rural youth organisation says.
The 38th Macra na Feirme presidential election count will take place tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday, April 7) at 2:00pm in the Irish Farm Centre.
A count of ballots will take place for the presidential position between two candidates:
John Keane, North Tipperary;
Daniel Long, South Tipperary.

The count is to take place next Wednesday 7 April at the Irish Farm Centre. \ Philip Doyle.
Daniel Long, one of the Macra presidential candidates, has called for an independent scrutineer to be agreed upon by both candidates running for president and has said he will not be taking part in the count on Wednesday.
Long told the
Irish Farmers Journal that he is not pulling out of the race but will “not be partaking in the count in its current form” on Wednesday 7 April at the Irish Farm Centre. He is running against Laois farmer John Keane.
“I feel it’s not unreasonable to ask that an independent scrutineer be an agreed person by both candidates in the interest of transparency and fairness,” he said.
