The winners of the competition for the reform of the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) have just been announced.HARQUITECTES with Christ & Gantenbein have been selected to rethink and expand the exhibition areas of the original museum, designed by American architect Richard Meier in the 90s. The winning proposal has been developed by HARQUITECTES in partnership with Christ & Gantenbein. Entitled Gallery ( Galería), the project aims to increase the net area of the MACBA by 1,760 square meters (18,944 square foot) According to the jury, the winning proposal will generate a dialogue at different scales: with the neighborhood, with the city, and with the museum.
