Slovak far-right backs anti-vaccination campaign

The protest is supported by the far-right ĽSNS led by Marian Kotleba, Denník N daily reported. Around noon, the crowd blocked the road, paralysing traffic and causing long tailbacks. Protesters demanded the recently adopted law which was also signed by the president last week to be scrapped, likening it to “vaccine fascism.” The protests are a continuation of protests against vaccination that were held during the whole weekend plenary session in front of the National Council. Protesters hoped to push Slovakia’s National Council not to approve an amendment allowing vaccinated citizens to avoid restrictions if the epidemiological situation in the country worsens. The bill allows the Public Health Authority (UVZ) to take into account digital COVID passes when drawing up anti-epidemic measures.

Slovak farmers concerned over lack of plan for agricultural subsidies

The largest Slovak agricultural association, the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPKK), is has raised concerns that Agriculture Minister Ján Mičovský (Ordinary People Party – OĽaNO) may have failed to prepare a strategic plan under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which he must submit to the European Commission by the end of the year. The concerns are based on the ministry’s lack of communication so far with public stakeholders regarding the preparation of new subsidy schemes for the years 2023 to 2027. Despite previous promises, it has not published a draft Intervention Strategy, which is a basis for the CAP Strategic Plan.
