SD888-powered Realme Race is a part of new series, exec confirms
Earlier this month we exclusively reported that Realme is working on a new smartphone called Race (RMX2202), which is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, has 12GB RAM and 256GB storage onboard, and runs Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top. Now we get official confirmation that Race is just a codename and the smartphone is a part of a new series.
This information comes from Realme VP Xu Qi Chase, who corroborated our leak and said that the smartphone has a Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood and will arrive in 2021. He didn t say when exactly, but we expect the smartphone to go official sometime in January or February next year.

Realme is set to launch its first phone powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor in the first quarter of 2021. Since the launch of the new flagship processor from Qualcomm, reports have claimed that the phone sporting the new chip will be called Realme Race. However, the Vice President of the Chinese smartphone maker revealed in a post that it is just a code name for the upcoming device.
Realme recently shared its plans to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 888 chip. According to the company, Realme Race will be the first smartphone on this chip, and its release is scheduled for early 2021.
Xu Qi, vice president and president of Realme China, has already stated that Realme Race will also have an “attractive design”. And today the CEO of Realme revealed that Realme Race will also be the start of a new line of the company.
Xu Qi clarified that Race is just a codename for the device; and the line will bear a completely new commercial name.
Many believe that Realme Race could enter the market as part of the “Ace” series. According to rumors, the parent company of Realme – Oppo – just gave its sub-brand the Ace line; the last smartphone in the series was Ace 2.
