(ABC 6 News) - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a controversial new bill into law that will affect the ways in which Iowans cast their ballots in future elections.
The new bill will shorten the early voting period from 29 days down to 20. It’ll also close polling places on election day an hour early.
Additionally, the legislation prohibits election officials from automatically mailing absentee ballot request forms. In 2020, county auditors used mass mailings as tool that helped shatter voting records.
The Iowa State Association of County Auditors says it’s concerned about the revisions to Iowa’s election laws.
