Tyler Sullivan, of North Liberty, has been running across Iowa towns for the last six years. He’s run around and through towns in 84 of Iowa’s 99 counties.
Back in 2015, Sullivan said his then-girlfriend lived in Mason City, where he traveled about every other week from the Iowa City area to visit her.
“I was seeing counties I’d never heard of before,” Sullivan told the Globe Gazette. “So one day, I was just like, ‘Hey … maybe we could visit these counties and find something special.’ So every time I came up north, I picked a county, and every time she came down, she picked a county.”

ANKENY An Iowa woman has been charged with animal neglect after bringing a dead dog and a starving puppy to an animal shelter.
Amber Jane Robinson, 39, of Ankeny was charged after she brought both dogs to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa on April 24, according to the Des Moines Register.
The complaint against Robinson said the dead black Labrador was extremely skinny and covered in its own waste when it was brought in. A 9-month-old German Shepherd puppy she also brought in was extremely dehydrated and its ribs and spine protruded prominently from its body.
The complaint said a veterinarian technician estimated that the dead dog would have had to have been left unattended for three to four weeks to reach the state it was in, and officials said it died of starvation. The puppy needed immediate medical attention.

IOWA CITY An Iowa City man has been charged with trying to hinder the investigation of a fatal shooting that took place in his apartment.
Mazin Mohamedali, 20, was arrested Saturday in connection with the Feb. 12 shooting of Quincy Russom, 19. Another man, 22-year-old Sammy Hamed, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting, The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports.
According to court documents, police say Mohamedali knew Hamed had killed Russom and waited 30 minutes to call 911. Police also said Mohamedali lied during questioning, gave a false description to officers and withheld some information that would have led investigators to Hamed more quickly.

DES MOINES – Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) reports an increase in recent fraudulent activity related to unemployment insurance. This includes claims filed using stolen identities or unauthorized access to an individual’s account, as well as computer generated claims from a single employer that exceeds the number of employees. Unemployment insurance fraud is a national issue, and IWD is working closely with the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, and other states around the country to share information regarding known bad actors or methods of attack.
