Two people are facing multiple charges after the New Iberia Police Department said they robbed and beat a person with disabilities.
Investigators allege Rijhanelle Flugence and Joseph Roberts Jr. robbed and severely beat a person who is disabled, causing further permanent damage to the victim, on April 25 at the intersection of Corrine and Field streets, Sgt. Daesha Hughes said in a release.
Flugence and Roberts were charged with attempted first-degree murder and second-degree robbery. Flugence was additionally charged with cruelty to the infirm, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II drugs and self-mutilation.
Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, Hughes said.

IBERIA PARISH, La. - A man has been arrested for attempting to kidnap a juvenile.
On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 8:00 p.m., Iberia Parish Sheriffâs Office (IPSO) deputies responded to a call in the 700 block of Lake Dauterive Road regarding an attempted aggravated kidnapping of a juvenile, battery, and aggravated assault with a firearm.
The suspect attempted to leave with the juvenile, according to an IPSO spokesperson. The reporting person was able to get the juvenile back from the suspect who then pulled out a firearm. The reporting person was able to gain possession of the gun from the suspect. The suspect then fled the area.

IBERIA PARISH - One arrest was made a day after Iberia Parish authorities were called to the scene of an alleged attempted kidnapping on Tuesday, according to KATC.
It was around 8 p.m. when a man who the Iberia Parish Sheriff s Ofice (IPSO) identified as Joshua Boutte tried to leave a location in the 700 block of Lake Dauterive Road with a juvenile.
Deputies were told that Boutte was stopped by a third person who fought him off, and wrested the child away from him.

IBERIA PARISH, La. - A 33-year-old man has been arrested on multiple charges including rape, porn involving a juvenile, and sexual abuse of an animal.
On April 8, 2021, detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriffâs Office Bureau of Investigation Juvenile Division began investigating an indecent behavior with juvenile complaint in Jeanerette. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Corey Robicheaux had been sexually abusing a juvenile for six years, according to a spokesperson for the Sheriff s Office.
Detectives secured a search warrant for Robicheauxâs residence and recovered his cell phone. A search warrant was obtained for a forensic examination of Robicheauxâs cell phone, yielding additional evidence, the spokesperson stated. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.
IPSO makes arrest in Catalytic Converter thefts in Iberia Parish

NEW IBERIA, La. â The Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office have made two arrests in connection with a string of Catalytic Converter thefts that have occurred in Iberia Parish.
According to a release, IPSO says that on March 3 at approximately 6:30 a.m., detectives along with the SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 2300 block of Rose Lane in Iberia Parish in reference to the Catalytic Converter thefts.
IPSO located the suspect Trevor James Gaspard, 24, in the residence alone with the homeowner Jonathan Harry Standridge, 37, who had open arrest warrants.
