Idaho Falls, Idaho moves up six spots to top the list among small cities. The Index, published annually since 1999, offers a first look at how the pandemic has impacted regional economies across the country.
Provo-Orem, which ranked second in 2020, has been a recipient of the tech sector s out-migration from the more expensive coastal cities of California. A relatively new innovation center with significantly lower costs than Silicon Valley or Silicon Beach, Provo-Orem has attracted tech giants including Qualtrics, Vivint, and SmartCitizen, among others.

Mayor Rebecca Casper presented the 2021 Idaho Falls State of the City Address last night and introduced the first-ever Mayor’s Choice Awards as part of the evening’s program.
The Mayor’s Choice Awards were created as a way to recognize outstanding residents, businesses, organizations, efforts or community figures for contributions to the city, noteworthy accomplishments or other achievements. The awards are anticipated to be presented once a year, at the discretion of the Mayor, generally during or around the time of the annual State of the City address.

New Idaho Falls Police station will cost less to finance than expected

The Idaho Falls stockyard were the city is planning to build a new police station.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Building a new police station in Idaho Falls won t cost as much as expected, city leaders said Wednesday.
The city was able to get a lower interest rate on the sale of Certificates of Participation. The certificates are tax-exempt bonds issued by government entities to finance capital projects.
Instead of a 3.25 percent interest rate, the city was able to get a 1.89 percent rate, saving taxpayers millions of dollars, they said.
