The following schools in eastern Idaho are closed or delayed Wednesday, Feb. 3: CLOSED: Lincoln Elementary in Rexburg Lighthouse Montessori (2-hour delay) Rocky Mountain Power reports 46 outages have left 7,482 people in the dark as of 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. The outages are spread from Firth to Rexburg with many of them reported before 6 a.m. Fall River Electric and Idaho Falls Power are not reporting any outages.

The power went out just after 8 a.m. Bonneville School District says they are able to keep students in school. Lunch should be normal they said. UPDATE 9:17 a.m.: Bonneville School District is encouraging parents to pick up their kids at school affected by the power outage. But if parents can not pick up their children, they will keep them at school. Those schools include: Tiebreaker Elementary School District officials say they may not be able to provide lunch to these schools is why they re encouraging parents to pick up students.

Customers with Idaho Falls Power should have the lights back on. However, Rocky Mountain Power reports 12,059 customers are without power. The outage began shortly after 8 a.m. A spokesman with Rocky Mountain Power says crews are still investigating the cause of the outage. The outage impacts Rocky Mountain Power customers living in zip codes 83406, 83404, 83427 and 83401.

Idaho Falls Mayor reviews “state of the city” Mayor Rebecca Casper delivers State of the City address IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)-In a year that saw 116 Bonneville County citizens die from complications of COVID-19, Mayor Rebecca Casper began her annual State of the City address by expressing gratitude to the city employees and medical personnel who have worked through the pandemic and memorialized those who passed away.      The Mayor touched on some of the projected goals of city departments in 2021.  The Parks and Recreation Department will begin work on a full restoration of the Tautphaus Park Fun Land. It should be complete by 2022.   Additional trails are planned along canal pathways in the heart of the city.

Fall River manager wins seat on NW Power Council

Fall River manager wins seat on NW Power Council Dennis Hammon Bryan Case PORTLAND, Ore. (KIFI)-Fall River Electric Cooperative General Manager Bryan Case has been elected to the board of the Northwest Power Planning Council.   Case will serve as Vice Chair of the council’s Fish and Wildlife committee.  He succeeds Roger Kline, of Wasco County PUD, who moves on as chair of the Council. Bear Prairie, of Idaho Falls Power, was elected to the executive committee of the PPC for 2021-2022.  The Council represents over 100 consumer-owned electric utilities in the Pacific Northwest. It’s primary mission is to preserve and protect the benefits of the federal Columbia River Power System for consumer-owned utilities of the region.
