Idaho Police Warn of Recurring Phone Scams
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)-Idaho State Police is warning Idahoans of a resurgence of two phone scams claiming to be law enforcement.
Recently ISP, with cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and the Idaho Attorney General s Office, said people need to be aware of the scams from someone purporting to be with a sheriff s office or the Idaho State Police, typically wanting payment in the form of of a gift card.
One scam making its rounds again is targeting registered sex offenders telling those who pick up the call that they are out of compliance and can pay a bond to clear it up. ISP said the scammers usually tell the intended victim they can use a gift card to pay the bond and stay out of jail. ISP said anyone threatening a person with jail time or other punishment and providing a way to pay to avoid it is a scam.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Idaho State Police have been made aware of another round of telephone scams targeting Idahoans.
The recent reports include somewhat new twists on long-familiar scams; however, scammers continue to look for specific circumstances or unique vulnerabilities that make their deceptions especially cruel and unfortunately, sometimes successful. As these scammers can target anyone and can be anywhere in the world, education is the best defense.
In cooperation with local law enforcement agencies and the Idaho Attorney General s Office, ISP is issuing the following alert.
Targeting Registered Sex Offenders
It was with a feeling of disgust that we learned our congressman Mike Simpson had signed his name in support of Texasâ recent attempt to have the Supreme Court overturn the 2020 elections in four statesâ-Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
In this act of political cowardice Mike Simpson demonstrated a disgraceful supplication before the altar of Donald J. Trump who had demanded that a list of Congressional names be drawn up as evidence of fealty to him and public support for the seditious attempt to nullify an election.
While several states attorneys general succumbed to the political pressure and joined the Texas AG case before the Supreme Court, Lawrence Wasden, the Idaho Attorney General, acting with honor and in accordance with his pledged duty âto uphold and protect both the Idaho and U.S. constitutions,â declined to join that effort.
