Party leaders say it has held its ground in Jammu, apart from opening its account in Kashmir Valley
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday seemed to be upbeat after holding its ground in Jammu and having opened its account in the Kashmir valley as the results of the District Development Council (DDC) elections started pouring in. While the Congress and the National Conference (NC) also did decently well in Jammu, senior BJP leaders felt that the party had managed to hold its ground, even if its performance in areas like the Chenab Valley was not to its satisfaction.

ISLAMABAD Pakistan’s foreign minister on Friday accused neighbouring India of planning a “surgical strike” against his Islamic nation, the latest in a war of words between the two nuclear-armed rivals.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke during a televised news conference in the United Arab Emirates where he is currently on a two-day visit for talks with senior UAE government officials.
He did not offer evidence to support his claim but cited “credible intelligence” about the alleged plot. He added that Pakistan was fully prepared to respond to any such attack from India, which he said could endanger peace in the region.
