Ohio State Highway Patrol says Hanahan didn’t have his seatbelt on at the time of the crash.  10tv spoke with three of his friends, Kyler Hall, Layne Stark and Cory Fricke.  

One motorcyclist killed, one injured in crash with truck near Obetz

One motorcyclist was killed and another motorcyclist was injured after they crashed into a pickup truck with a trailer that turned across the lane in front of them Monday afternoon near Obetz, the Franklin County Sheriff s office reported. The two motorcyclists  one driving a Harley Davidson and the other driving a Honda   were riding south on Alum Creek Drive about 2:45 p.m. when the driver of a 2013 Ford F-550 pickup with a trailer attached attempted to make a left turn from Rathmell Road into the northbound lane of Alum Creek, deputies said.  The motorcyclists crashed into the side of the pickup with trailer, deputies said.

Morrow County under Flood Warning STAFF REPORT MOUNT GILEAD The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Flood Warning for central Morrow County until 12:45 a.m. At 6:54 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Some locations that will experience flooding include Mount Gilead and Edison. Low-lying areas of Morrow County Fairgrounds are flooded. A few homes and businesses along South Main Street are threatened. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Downtown Days starts May 22 By Anthony Conchel - aconchel@aimmediamidwest.com MOUNT GILEAD The Mount Gilead Merchants Association has some fresh ideas to bring visitors downtown starting with the first Downtown Days. Entertainment and sales are planned for Saturday, May 22, according to Kate Stuttler, co-owner of The Village Gathering Place. “We have collaboratively come together with local businesses to form this association and bringing together the community and traffic to local businesses.” Downtown Days is one Saturday per month, starting next week. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Look for the dates listed on the light poles around the main square. We will have sidewalk sales, area restaurants having specials and entertainment for the family,” Stuttler said.

Teen involved in fatal traffic crash Friday morning in Morrow County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash Friday morning involving a Mount Gilead area teen. Landon Hanahan, 18, was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound on County Road 30 in Gilead Township, Morrow County, around 5:45 a.m., the patrol reported in a news release.  Hanahan went off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the patrol said.  Troopers with the Mount Gilead Post investigating the crash determined Hanahan was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, the patrol said.
