Latrobe looking for new city secretary, finance director

Latrobe is searching for a new city secretary and director of finance and administration. City manager Michael Gray declined to discuss the departure of Roxanne Shadron, who recently held the dual positions. Two people had applied for the vacancy as of Monday, Gray said. He said the city will allow a grace period for those who miss the advertised deadline for submitting resumes, on Friday. “If you wait until June, it might be too late,” he said. “Hopefully, by June, we should have someone hired in that position.” He said city officials have not settled on a salary for the new hire.

Priit Sibul appointed new Isamaa representative on ERR supervisory board

Isamaa Riigikogu group chair Priit Sibul has been appointed to the supervisory board of public broadcaster ERR, replacing the outgoing Viktoria Ladõnskaja-Kubits. Sibul, whose party is in opposition at the Riigikogu, was appiinted by parliament, receiving 90 votes in favor at the 101-seat chamber. ERR s supervisory board contains one representative from each political party represented at the Riigikogu – currently five – along with four independent experts. The board, distinct from the management board headed up by current ERR chief Erik Roose, is tasked mainly with ensuring balance and independence at the broadcaster, which was formed by legislative act in 2007 with the merger of the formerly-separate ETV and Estonian Radio.

ERR chief: Work on new TV house construction could start next year

Breaking ground on a planned new television house for public broadcaster ERR should go ahead next year, the organization s management board chair Erik Roose says. Talking to ERR radio show Vikerhommik Wednesday morning, Roose said that while amendments have needed to be made to the original planning filed for the proposed building, which will be located between the existing News House (Uudistemaja) and Radio House on Kreutzwaldi in central Tallinn, 2022 is the year when, it is hoped, work will commence. The coronavirus pandemic and its effects is not the only factor in consideration – the original schedule saw ground due to be broken in 2020 – planning considerations also played their part, since Supreme Court precedents illustrated that the original winning architectural design would need to be amended.
