05/18/2021 | Press release | Distributed by Public on 05/18/2021 12:06 Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias’ statement to Greek journalists following his meetings in Israel and the Palestinian Territories (18.05.2021) I met this morning in Jerusalem with the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos to express in the clearest terms the interest of the Greek government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, one of the holiest foundations of Christianity. Immediately afterwards I met with my Israeli counterpart, Gabi Ashkenazi, then I went to Ramallah where I met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and then I briefed the Council of Ministers of the European Union on these contacts via videoconference. Soon I am leaving for Amman to meet with my Jordanian counterpart, Mr. Safadi.

Greek FM Dendias to tour Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Egypt from Tuesday Search for: Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is leaving for Israel and the Palestinian territories tomorrow. The Foreign Minister will have meetings with His Holiness the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III, his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi and his Palestinian counterpart Riad Al-Maliki. Also, tomorrow, Dendias will participate in the extraordinary teleconference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union. The teleconference, about developments in the region, will be convened by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The Foreign Minister will also travel to Jordan, where he will meet with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
