PIGEON FORGE â In honor of U.S. military veterans, Pigeon Forge will host its seventh annual Veterans Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Aug. 7. World War II veteran and Pigeon Forge resident James Householder returns as parade grand marshal. Householder will be joined by fellow local veterans Tom Lavin and Don Luckett, both of whom are volunteers for the Pigeon Forge Special Events department.
Householder is one of the few remaining World War II veterans residing in Sevier County. A 1944 graduate of Sevier County High School, Householder also graduated from Maryville College where he met his wife Julia. Retired from the electrical business, Householder is a former Pigeon Forge city commissioner.
PIGEON FORGE â Fire Chief Tony Watson has returned to duty after serving a three-day, unpaid suspension for driving to the scene of a fire hours after having a mixed drink, in violation of city policy.
In an interview with The Mountain Press, Watson acknowledged that heâd had a single, regular-sized margarita at about 7:45 p.m. July 5, while he was at a restaurant with a guest.
The day had served as a holiday for Watson, because the Fourth of July fell on a Sunday. Watson said he was in bed shortly after 9 p.m. that day. Watson is an early riser, and following gastric bypass surgery several years ago he gets up before dawn to work out before going to work.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) The Pigeon Forge Fire Chief has been suspended for three days without pay according to City Manager Earlene Teaster. On July 5, Tony Watson admitted that he drank an alcoholic beverage then responded to fire later that night.
His suspension was effective July 9-13. He will resume his responsibilities with the city on July 14. He is a 14-year veteran of the department.
“It is with great remorse and regret that I have disappointed my fellow firefighters, Pigeon Forge’s city management, our community, my friends and most especially, my family,” Watson said in response to the suspension.
