Background
Conflict regions bear the heaviest brunt of food insecurity and undernutrition. South Sudan is one of the fragile countries following years of conflict that led to large displacements. Moderate to severe undernutrition among under-five children has been associated with elevated morbidity and mortality. This study, therefore, was conducted to assess the magnitude and factors influencing undernutrition (wasting, underweight and stunting) among children aged 6 to 59 months in Yambio County, South Sudan.
Methods
A cross-sectional study was conducted from 26 October to 6 November 2018 in Yambio County, South Sudan among 630 children aged 6–59 months from the 348 households surveyed in 39 clusters using two-stage cluster sampling design. Data were collected using questionnaires and nutritional anthropometric measurements. Grisly accident claims 8 lives in Lakes State

At least eight people have died and eight others injured in a fatal road accident when a passenger pick-up car collided with a fuel tanker between Yirol West and Awerial County of Lakes State on Wednesday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj the state traffic police investigator Awet Deng said seven people died on the spot, while another one died on the way to the hospital. Among the dead are a national security officer, the pick-up driver, and his co-driver.
He also said that seven people were injured in the grisly accident including a nine-month-old baby, and are receiving treatment at the Yirol Hospital.
Central and North Rumbek communities receive ox-plows

The Kuei and Rup intellectuals Global Forum (KARIGF) on Monday distributed ten ox-plows to the three communities of Rup, Kuei, and Pakam of Rumbek Central and Rumbek North Counties as a sign of peaceful co-existence after many years of deadly inter-communal conflicts.
The ceremony was attended by chiefs from the three communities and state officials from Rumbek Central and Rumbek North counties.
The Director-General of the state ministry of agriculture and forestry, Mabor Kau Lam, said the distribution of ox-plows is to motivate the vulnerable groups who are badly affected by inter-communal conflicts and boost agricultural productivity.
No arrests made in the murder of a doctor in Unity State
Authorities in Unity state have said no arrests have so far been made in the case of the chilling murder of Dr. Louis Edward Saleh Ufew, last Friday.
The deceased medic was an employee of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) who said he was found dead in Panyijiar County, South Sudan, last Friday, 21 May, under unclear circumstances.
Unity State information minister, Gabriel Hon Makuei, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that no arrests have been made and that they were still carrying out investigations.
“It happened in Panyijar in Ganyliel Payam. We got the information that it happened on 21 May that he died in the evening but we have not yet established if he was killed or died alone. As a government, we are still investigating,” Minister Makuei said.
