4 killed, 350 cattle raided in Rumbek Centre
At least four people have been killed, seven others wounded and over 350 head of cattle raided from Rumbek Centre County of Lakes State by armed youth suspected to have come from Panyijiar County in neighboring Unity State.
The attack occurred in Amongpiny Payam of Rumbek Centre County on Wednesday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the police chief in the area Brigadier General Makur Dak, said: They came as a huge force, and they took the whole cattle camp. The number which they raided was 356 cows, but only 6 cows were recovered, and they went with 350.
Authorities in Lakes State have confirmed that three people have been shot dead and six wounded including the police chief inspector in Aluakaluak Payam Michael Mayor Malaak.
2 people killed in Rumbek East County
Police authorities in South Sudan s Lakes State have said that armed criminals suspected to be from Aluakaluak Payam of Yirol West County killed a police officer and a civilian on Sunday.
According to the police, armed youth from Alualuak Payam of Yirol West County went and raided two ox-plows in a village in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the police chief inspector of Alualuak Payam of Yirol West county Michael Mayor Malaak said a student was killed by the owners of the stolen ox-plows as they pursued the criminals. He also added that a policeman was killed as he tried to pursue the criminals.
Paramount chief arrested for shielding suspected killers in Rumbek East
Authorities of Rumbek East County on Monday confirmed the arrest of Paramount Chief Machuol Makur of Aduel Payam alleged to be protecting suspected killers and cattle thieves in his compound.
The Rumbek East County deputy police commissioner, Brigadier General Makur Dak, said the police on Monday morning went to the house of the chief who was harboring the killers and arrested him.
“We went to his house and arrested the Paramount Chief who was said to be hiding the killers who ambushed and killed people who were traveling on foot with their cows from Naam-cok cattle camp to Amongpiny Payam. He is now under investigation to bring the suspects who killed people in a road ambush, Gen. Makur said.
5 dead, 2 wounded in intercommunal clashes in Lakes State
Authorities of the defunct Eastern and Western Lakes States confirmed five people were killed and two others wounded in intercommunal fighting between Rumbek East and Yirol West Counties on Monday.
The five people killed include two soldiers from SSPDF and three civilians.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the deputy police commissioner of police Brigadier General Makur Dak said the two soldiers were killed in Alualuak while attempting to prevent fighting between Rumbek East and Yirol West Counties youth. I am currently in Rumbek East county headquarters of Aduel waiting for a vehicle to take me to Akot and Alualuak where clashes occurred. Now, I can confirm to you that only five people are still confirmed dead and two others wounded, said Makur Dak.
