Jean (Greenwald) Reno loved the Peanuts characters.
Peppermint Patty was most endearing to Reno, said her brother, James Greenwald. It s probably more attitude than anything, Greenwald said. Peppermint Patty was sort of tomboyish (like Jean). I don t think Jean forgot her homework as many times.

Reno was so intertwined with the character, he said, that friends made and wore Peppermint Patty masks to her funeral.
Reno, 52, of New Berlin, where she lived with her husband, Jeff, died of COVID-19 complications on Jan. 20. She had been sick for less than three weeks. It s a wake-up call of sorts, admitted Greenwald, a dentist and musician, of his sister s death.
