Kayaktivists protests on Lake Union against proposed natural gas plant in Tacoma KIRO 7 News Staff
Some kayaktivists demonstrated on Lake Union on Thursday pushing back against a plan to build a multimillion-dollar liquified natural gas plant in Tacoma.
Demonstrators protested outside the home of Puget Sound Energy CEO Mary Kipp.
Critics said the proposed facility is not sustainable and that it poses a grave risk to the environment.
“With climate crisis, we already know it’s here and it’s time to pull back and get a plan for renewable energy, and not a source of fossil-fuel energy like the liquified natural gas facility,” said Dakota Case with Puyallup Water Warriors.
