CROWN POINT â A suspect who led police on a chase across Interstate 65 on Friday was arrested after ramming two Lake County police cars with a vehicle and trying to escape on foot, an official said.
Mohammed O. Elobaid, 29, of Indianapolis, was arrested and charged with battery with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery against a public safety official, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license, according to Indiana State Police.
Additional charges from Jasper County authorities are pending. Elobaid is being held in Lake County Jail after he was medically cleared.Â

Reward offered for information in fatal shooting near hospital
CHICAGO â Chicago anti-violence activists are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the fatal shooting of a man found dead on Christmas Eve near a hospital.
The reward announced Tuesday seeks tips in the killing of Cyle Hemphill, 25. An autopsy by the Cook County medical examinerâs office found that Hemphill, who lived in Chicagoâs Beverly neighborhood, died from several gunshot wounds.
His body was found Dec. 24 slumped in the front passenger seat of a car parked outside a garage at the southern edge of an alley near Trinity Hospital on Chicagoâs South Side.
EAST CHICAGO â The murder suspect who escaped a private security firm s transport van two weeks ago as the driver waited in a McDonald s drive-thru was taken into custody this morning, Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez said.Â
Members of the Lake County Sheriffâs Department Tactical Unit arrested Leon Taylor in the 4900 block of Indianapolis Boulevard in East Chicago after a brief foot chase, Martinez said.Â
Officers were in East Chicago on Wednesday morning searching for Taylor, 22, and took him into custody about 8:40 a.m. Our officers worked around the clock over the Christmas holiday and investigated every possible lead to bring this fugitive back into custody, Martinez said in a statement.Â
