As the boats headed out from Johnson Park to Lake Marble Falls, the smiles on the kids’ faces showed just how much they were looking forward to a day on the water. It was the first time many of the youths participating in the Skiin’ with the Galilean three-day event had even been on a boat, much less skis.
It is time for the seventh annual Lake Athens Fly Fishing Festival and it looks like a weekend of fun for the whole family. There’ll be a 5 p.m. launch

A thunderstorm blew though Athens and Henderson County Monday, dumping large amounts of water and temporarily closing roads.
Storms have been swirling in North Texas for several days and Henderson County has been no exception.
National Weather Service data shows Athens heaviest rain Monday came in the 9 a.m. hour, during which 1.63 inches was reported at Athens Municipal Airport. Another .45 inches fell the following hour.
