GRAND LAKE, Colo. â An exhibit in Grand Lake will help visitors understand the impact of the East Troublesome Fire while protecting residents from reliving the harrowing disaster.
The exhibit, called Troublesome Stores: Art & Artifacts From The East Troublesome Fire, will include 40 powerful images of the fire alongside text of residentsâ stories and artifacts recovered from the ashes.
The East Troublesome Fire blew up in size on Oct. 21, 2020 and winds pushed the flames at a breakneck speed â about 6,000 acres per hour â across the landscape, giving most Grand Lake residents a mere 12 minutes to evacuate. In

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa - What was once the site of a pre-stressed concrete facility is transforming into a commercial hotspot.
Progress is moving along in the Courtway Park development on the northeast corner of I-35 and Iowa Highway 122. While the combined Marriott Hotel and Event Center is under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, as well as an Old Dominion facility slated to be built on the north side of the site, a new retail development called Starboard Square is taking shape next to the Marriott.
